Jack Petchey Foundation
The Jack Petchey Foundation was established by the successful East London entrepreneur, Jack Petchey, in 1999. It is a young, progressive grant making Trust based in Essex, and is now among the largest and most influential London charitable foundations. The Foundation exists to raise the aspirations of young people, to help them take advantage of opportunities and play a full part in society. It operates in the London boroughs and Essex, where it currently is involved in activities of 1600 secondary schools and clubs. The Foundation has given over £85 million since its establishment.
Romford Hockey Club are proud to be part of the Jack Petchey Achievement Award Scheme. This scheme is a reward and recognition initiative which enables us to celebrate the achievements of our young people as well as receive additional funding.
Each season, the youth membership of Romford Hockey Club are able to nominate fellow youth members who they believe deserve to receive the Jack Petchey Achievement Award. We have nomination forms available here, at the training sessions and in the clubhouse for you to write your nominations on. The forms can then be placed in the nomination box at the clubhouse or passed on to the Co-ordinator, Lorraine Farnham, who will keep them all together. Each season 3 winners will be selected from the nominations to receive the award.
The winners receive a framed certificate and badge and a cheque for £200 (payable to the club) to be spent on something that will benefit the youth section of the club. A spending guideline list is available here or, speak to Lorraine Farnham and any questions regarding the award can be answered by her. In addition, award winners are further recognised by attending one of our celebration events where they are congratulated on stage in front of friends and family.
